The
Vineyards

Inspired by the land our boots have tread upon for years, TREAD crafts site-driven wines to showcase the diversity of Santa Barbara County.

The vineyards we source fruit from are some of the most esteemed throughout the Santa Maria Valley and Sta. Rita Hills AVAs – two cool-climate appellations that are widely recognized for producing quality Burgundian varietals.

Sierra-Madre

Sierra
Madre

The northernmost vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley AVA, Sierra Madre Vineyard is known as one of the coolest sites in California. Located 15 miles from the coast, here strong marine influences and nutrient-starved soils – consisting of two types of well-draining sandy loam soils – contribute to the vineyard’s extensive root development, lower yields, and concentrated flavors.

La-Encantada

La
Encantada

Located just 7 miles from the Pacific Ocean on the western edge of the Sta. Rita Hills, La Encantada Vineyard is defined by its marine-influenced terroir. Planted by legendary grape grower Richard Sanford, La Encantada sits on a ridge that straddles the Santa Ynez River Valley, where a combination of diatomaceous earth, strong winds, heavy morning fog, and afternoon sun result in fruit with high acidity and intense, complex flavors.

Our
Lady of Guadalupe

Nestled on the far western side of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA is Our Lady of Guadalupe Vineyard. This AVA is renowned as one of the coolest climate sites in California. Influenced by marine layers and coastal breezes from the nearby Pacific Ocean, the vineyards experience fluctuating conditions throughout the day. While the Our Lady of Guadalupe Vineyard is relatively newer than some of its long-standing neighbors in the AVA, its landscape boasts a range of hillsides. Our fruit is sourced from these dynamic slopes, influencing the unique and remarkable characteristics to the wine.
